Phillip H. A. Lee, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. He believes that clear communication with the patient is essential to delivering high quality care. Nominated by his local peers, he received the Pasadena Magazine – Top Doctors Award in Dermatology.

Born in Glendale, CA and raised in Pasadena, CA, Dr. Lee considers this area home. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating, with highest distinctions, Summa Cum Laude,  in biology. He earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He received a laboratory research fellowship at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, CA after which he went on to complete dermatology residency at the UC San Diego Medical Center. He served as chief resident during his final year of residency.

Dr. Lee served as a volunteer faculty of University of Southern California, Department of Dermatology. For his teaching, the dermatology residents awarded him the Outstanding Teaching Award in Medical Dermatology.

Dr. Lee truly enjoys the practice of dermatology and considers it an honor to participate in the patient-doctor relationship. When he is not in the clinic, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his wife and two young girls. When time permits you can also find him playing basketball and golf. In addition to English, Dr. Lee, who happens to be half Chilean, also speaks fluent Spanish.

DR. SHIRLEY CHI

Board certified dermatologist Shirley Chi, M.D. specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology with an emphasis on patient advocacy and education. She is frequently featured on ABC Eyewitness News in the greater Los Angeles area for her expert advice concerning the care of skin, hair, and nails.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Southern California, Dr. Chi received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, graduating cum laude with a major in philosophy. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School with highest honors, completing her residency in dermatology at Cook County Hospital in downtown Chicago, and serving as chief resident during her final year.

Dr. Chi has taught at the University of California, Los Angeles and previously served as the Director of Dermatology Resident Education at Olive View-UCLA Hospital. She has also previously taught at Loma Linda University and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. For her dedication to teaching future doctors, Dr. Chi received the President of the United States Volunteer Service Award.

In her free time, Dr. Chi chases around two young children, and enjoys spending time with friends, hiking and traveling. She also loves to read, watch movies, and learn about different cultures and languages. Besides her native English, Dr. Chi speaks French, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.

DR. NIMA GHARAVI

Dr. Nima Gharavi is a leading dermatologist and key opinion leader in Dermatologic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery. He is the director of Dermatologic surgery & Mohs micrographic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of both the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), Dr. Gharavi has performed over 15,000 skin cancer and reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Gharavi graduated summa cum laude at UCLA, majoring in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology with a specialization in Business and Administration, and received both his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at UCLA. He then completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai and residency in dermatology at UCLA. Following residency, Dr. Gharavi completed a rigorous fellowship at UCLA in Procedural Dermatology, which featured a full integration of Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery with laser and cosmetic surgery. Through this unique integration, along with his PhD background in the science of skin cancer and aging, Dr. Gharavi is a well-rounded and innovative surgeon.

Dr. Gharavi is the recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Lasky award, the Irvine Page young investigator award, and the ACMS Theodore Tromovitch award for his research on squamous cell carcinoma. He has been the recipient of grants from the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Psoriasis Foundation. His research interests include the molecular pathogenesis of

high-risk skin cancers, particularly in immunosuppressed solid-organ transplant recipients, as well as wound healing, inflammation, and the aging process. He is a consultant and has served on the advisory board for several novel cancer and laser therapeutics and also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Dermatologic Surgeryand Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. To date, Dr. Gharavi has published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts and textbook chapters, and continues to lecture and teach at national and international conferences.

Dr. Gharavi resides in Brentwood, California with his wife, Talia, and two children. He enjoys an active lifestyle, including beach, gym, tennis, basketball and running.

Yuli is a board-certified physician assistant. She earned her undergraduate degree in Physiology and Neuroscience and minor in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego. She received her Physician Assistant degree from South University in Georgia.

 

Yuli was a National Health Service Corps scholar during PA school. She also volunteered at several migrant farmer clinics in Georgia. Upon graduating, Yuli provided quality care for three years at a community health clinic in downtown Los Angeles as a family medicine PA. Her philosophy in inpatient care has always been emphasized empowering and educating patients.

Born and raised in Taiwan, where skincare is infused into the culture, Yuli has always had a strong interest in medicine and anti-aging prevention. She is a member of the California Dermatology Physician Assistant Society. Yuli enjoys rock climbing and you can find her at local bouldering gyms in Los Angeles. In addition to speaking English, she is fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

Monica is our board certified Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in dermatology. With over 13 years in the medical field, she brings expertise to offer individualized care for each of her patients.

Monica received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and her Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2011, Monica began working at a private dermatology practice in West Los Angeles specializing in laser treatments for acne, acne scars and skin rejuvenation. In 2014, Monica joined Center for Advanced Dermatology and ultimately found dermatology as her true passion. Her clinical interests are sun protection, acne and skin rejuvenation. Monica is also a laser specialist and has many years of experience working in the field of laser dermatology. Her goal is to keep a holistic approach in her treatments and care plans.

 

Monica is a member of the National Nursing Honors Society, Sigma Theta Tau, and is nationally certified by The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). When Monica is away from the office, she enjoys time with her two sons and husband. She also likes practice calligraphy, cookie decorating and new recipes.
